Morecambe to Blackpool Walk

On August 6 & 7, 2008 we walked from the tip of the pier at Morecambe, Lancashire, to the tip of the pier at Blackpool. We followed the coast as best we could, using the Lancashire Coastal Way for most of the walk, and sleeping in Fleetwood at the North Euston Hotel.

The walk was much longer than we had anticipated. Rather, the first day was much longer than we expected. We started at 10 am, and arrived in Fleetwood sometime after 10 pm. The night bellman took pity on us and made us a couple of sandwiches.

The second day was proper drizzle from Fleetwood to Blackpool, but once we were stationed in plastic recliners at the pier's tip, it felt like the sun was shining on us.

We got lost only once, made ourselves very sore, saw much to admire, and were especially impressed by the number of lone car-based seaside revelers in Cleveleys - most having their lunch.
